EyeCandy: World’s Best 10K

Posted on 03 March 2009 by EyeFred

The World’s Best 10K was held on Sunday, March 1, 2009 on the Teodoro Moscoso Bridge in Carolina, Puerto Rico.  In the photo above you can see some of this year’s winners, including (from left to right) Sammy Kitawara (1rst - Kenya), Wilson Kipsang (3rd - Kenya), Moses Kipsiro (5th - Uganda), Kiplimo Kimutai (6th - Kenya), and Tilahun Regassa (8th - Ethiopia).  Click on the gallery below to see more event pictures, including some of the wackier runners (like this guy).  For a full list of winners and participants’ results click here.  To see more event pictures and find out how our own EyeTour.com runners did at the event, click here.

THANKS many, many times for your interesting coments, the overall good humor and above all the great variety of pictures. I will keep in my heart and my computer those excellent pictures you gave us free of charge. I just hope you will not follow the “WB10K” practice : To charge runners more and more money every year for less and lees servises i.e. NO pasta party, more comercial propaganda and the publication of a list of participants (time and position included) with only a fraction of all runners (1280 more or less).Believe me there scores of good and commited runners who have decided to make public their feelings and avoid running in 2010.This is my 31st year running marathons and ultramarathons,i.e.120ks in Flushing Meadows Pk.Queens,N.Y. Thanks for the opportunity. Manuel Febres Santiago Ed.D.

Glad to hear you enjoyed our coverage of the event! You should let the WB10k organizers know about your concerns so that they may be addressed for next year’s competition - although the race brings out all types of runners, its the career marathoners who validate the event with their support and presence. We’d like to see more of these events around the island since they unite the community and attract visitors from all around the world.

And don’t worry, we like to keep EyeTour.com content free :-)
    Thanks for writing!
